Iran warns of potential coordinated strike on Israel
Permanent Mission of Iran to the United Nations has signaled the possibility of a coordinated air and ground strike on Israel in response to the recent assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' political bureau, in Tehran.
The Iranian diplomatic mission emphasized that any retaliation would be meticulously planned to ensure maximum surprise, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
"The timing, conditions, and nature of Iran's response will be carefully calculated," the statement noted. "Our aim is to catch them off guard, potentially using a combination of aerial and ground tactics."
The statement suggests that Iran is preparing a response that could exploit potential vulnerabilities in Israel's defence systems.
By leveraging the element of surprise, Iran hopes to launch a multifaceted attack that could target both aerial and ground defences.
Haniyeh, who was in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's newly-elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, was martyred in an attack early on July 31. Iran holds Israel responsible for the assassination.
Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has warned the Israeli regime of a "harsh response" for Haniyeh's assassination, calling it the Islamic Republic's duty to avenge the Palestinian Resistance leader's blood.
