Iranian urges West to halt arms supply to Israel for regional peace
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on the United States and Western countries to immediately stop supplying weapons to Israel if they genuinely seek peace and security in the region.
During a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, who expressed concern over escalating tensions following the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, Pezeshkian emphasized that this act by Israel was a deliberate attempt to inflame regional conflict, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's commitment to global peace and security but stressed that Iran would not remain silent in the face of violations against its interests.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the avoidance of war and the effort to establish global peace and security as its fundamental principles. However, within the framework of treaties and international laws, it will never remain silent in the face of violations against its interests and security," Pezeshkian told Macron.
He criticized the US and Western nations for supporting Israel's actions, which he described as crimes, genocide, and terror, rather than condemning them. Pezeshkian highlighted Iran's consistent role in promoting regional stability and asserted that Iran reserves the right to respond proportionately to Israeli aggression.
Pezeshkian also condemned the West's "contradictory and dual approach" in supporting a regime that disregards international laws. He warned that as long as Israel continues its acts of genocide and terror, backed by Western powers, the region, and the world will not achieve stability or peace.
