Israeli Air Force destroys covert Iranian nuclear site near Tehran
The Israeli Air Force has destroyed what it described as a covert Iranian nuclear facility on the outskirts of Tehran, according to the military, cited by Israeli media.
Speaking at a press conference, IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said the partially underground site, known as “Minzadehei,” housed a group of Iranian nuclear scientists who were “working secretly to develop the capabilities required for nuclear weapons.”
The military stated that following the 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June 2025 — during which Iranian nuclear facilities were targeted — Tehran did not suspend its military nuclear program. Instead, according to the IDF, Iran continued advancing capabilities necessary for nuclear weapons and relocated critical infrastructure to an underground location designed to withstand aerial strikes.
The IDF said it tracked the activities of the Iranian nuclear scientists and identified their new operational base at the Minzadehei site. This intelligence, the military said, enabled it to carry out what it described as a precise strike on the secret compound.
No additional details were provided.
