Israeli army intercepts drones carrying arms along western border photo
Israeli army forces successfully prevented several attempts to smuggle weapons into Israel along the western border, in the area of the Paran Brigade, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported on its Telegram channel, as noted by Caliber.Az.
On the late night of October 17, IDF soldiers detected a drone that had crossed the border from the west into Israel, carrying weapons. Upon interception, the drone was found to be transporting two small arms, magazines, and ammunition.
The following morning, Israeli forces intercepted two additional drones attempting to cross the western border into Israel with smuggled goods.
Earlier, the IDF also announced that it had thwarted an overnight attempt to smuggle weapons from Egypt using a drone. The unmanned aerial vehicle was detected after crossing the Israeli-Egyptian border and was subsequently neutralised by Israeli troops. Inspection revealed that it was carrying two assault rifles.
The IDF emphasised that over the past year, there has been a growing trend of smuggling attempts over the Egyptian border using drones, including both weapons and drugs, highlighting the increasing use of unmanned aerial systems in cross-border smuggling operations.
