Israeli death toll from Iranian attacks reaches 8
The death toll in Israel as a result of a massive missile strike from Iran on Sunday night has risen to 8, with 200 people injured, the Times of Israel reports.
Rescuers are trying to find about 35 missing people.
The attacks, which began late Saturday and continued into Sunday, have targeted multiple cities, including Bat Yam, Rehovot, Ramat Gan, and northern regions such as Haifa and Tamra. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) report that most of the incoming missiles were intercepted, but some still caused significant damage and casualties.
The strikes appear to be part of a broader escalation in the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict. Earlier in the week, Israel conducted airstrikes on Iranian military and energy infrastructure, including the Shahran oil depot in Tehran. In response, Iran launched a series of missile and drone attacks on Israeli cities, resulting in civilian casualties and prompting widespread sheltering measures. Iran's state media reported that the missile barrage targeted dozens of sites, including military installations and airbases.
