Israeli defence company reveals new kamikaze drone PHOTO
The Israeli defence company Rafael has introduced its latest product, the "Maoz" (SPIKE FIREFLY) kamikaze drone.
This aircraft, resembling a helicopter, weighs three kilograms and can operate within a range of up to 1.5 kilometers. It is equipped with a warhead containing approximately 350 grams of explosive material and can remain airborne for 15-30 minutes, varying with the battery's charge level, Caliber.Az reports citing the company's website.
The drone's compact design facilitates easy transport and is equipped with an electro-optical and thermal guidance system, enabling operation in various combat environments and weather conditions. Although it was first deployed a year ago, this information has only recently been disclosed. Currently, the Maoz drone is employed by the Israeli Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip for identifying and neutralizing militant groups.
Critics worldwide express concern over the widespread deployment of such drones, citing their high effectiveness and cost-efficiency. There are apprehensions that terrorist organizations, albeit with some delay, may adapt tactics learned from regular military forces using such drones, potentially exacerbating issues of asymmetrical warfare. Efforts to develop "non-kinetic" methods like laser beams or microwave radiation for intercepting drones are still ongoing.
