January 20 victims commemorated in Netherlands
A commemorative event was held in the Hague (Netherlands) on the 34th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy.
The event was organised by the Dutch Azerbaijani-Turkish Cultural Association, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora told Report.
It was attended by leaders and activists of Azerbaijani and Turkish diaspora organisations.
A minute's silence was observed on 20 January in memory of the martyrs.
Ilhan Ashkin, head of the Azerbaijani-Turkish Cultural Association of the Netherlands, spoke about the political processes that preceded the January 20 tragedy and how the bloody crime committed by the Soviet leadership and army 34 years ago became a turning point on the road to Azerbaijan's independence.
The audience was shown a video about the events of January 20, 1990.
