Kazakh president reshuffles cabinet of ministries

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev decreed "measures to further improve the public administration system of the Republic of Kazakhstan", according to which several ministries were re-organised.

"The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan should be re-organised by separating the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and providing it with functions and powers in the use and protection of the water fund, water supply," TASS reports, citing the presidential press service.

Moreover, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development was re-organised by dividing it into the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Industry and Construction and providing them with the relevant functions.

The Ministry of Information and Social Development has been transformed into the Ministry of Culture and Information. The Ministry of Culture and Sports has been transformed into the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The Kazakh government was instructed to split the employees in the re-organised state agencies and organisations subordinating to them in agreement with the presidential administration.
