Kazakhstan advances AI strategy with global network membership
Kazakhstan's Alem.ai International Centre for Artificial Intelligence, operating under Astana Hub, has officially joined the The Global Network of Centres for Exchange and Cooperation on AI Capacity Building, marking another step in the country's efforts to strengthen its role in the global artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The accession ceremony was held at the World Trade Organization's Centre William Rappard, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
The international network brings together more than 20 AI centres from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean and aims to bridge the global digital divide by promoting cooperation in artificial intelligence development and capacity building.
As part of the partnership, member centres will collaborate on developing national and regional AI ecosystems, launching international education and training initiatives, sharing computing resources, datasets, and AI models, and supporting applied projects in socially significant sectors.
The move comes as Kazakhstan continues to expand its technology sector and position itself as a regional AI hub. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, the country's IT services exports have surpassed $1.1 billion, reflecting the rapid growth of its digital economy.
Kazakhstan has also signed $10 billion worth of agreements with NVIDIA and Firebird to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence and accelerate the development of advanced computing infrastructure.
In parallel, the government is preparing to establish a national crypto reserve, underscoring its broader strategy to strengthen the country's digital and financial technology capabilities.
