Kazakhstan bans imports of Russian jet fuel
Kazakhstan Railway (KTZ) has imposed a conventional ban on the transportation of kerosene and jet fuel from all stations of the Russian Railways (RR) to all stations of Kazakhstan.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing the faxogram of the directorate of the CIS Rail Transport Council (CRTC), the ban is imposed after the petition of KTZ dated June 8.
CRTC was founded on February 14, 1992. The Council ensures coordinated development of infrastructure and tariff policy of railroads of the CIS member states and contributes to further strengthening of basic interstate transport and economic relations of the countries participating in its work, according to the website of the CRTC.
At the end of May, Kazakh Industry and Infrastructural Development Minister Marat Karabaev said that the republic was experiencing a shortage of jet fuel, due to which it had to import it from Russia, Kursiv newspaper reports.
In May it was also reported about the shortage of automobile gasoline in Kazakhstan, due to which the republic was forced to reduce the export of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). According to Argus analysts, Kazakhstan may even have to switch to LPG imports from Russia.
