Kazakhstan, Russia sign strategic friendship declaration in Astana
Kazakhstan and Russia have signed a joint statement on friendship and good-neighborly relations following talks between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Astana.
The two leaders reviewed a number of trade and economic initiatives, including projects related to the reintroduction of Amur tigers in Kazakhstan, the launch of an unmanned freight transport route and the establishment of the Sirius school in Astana, Kazinform reports.
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova briefed Tokayev and Putin on preparations for the construction of the Sirius school project in the Kazakh capital.
Following the discussions, the presidents signed and exchanged a joint statement “On seven pillars of friendship and good-neighborliness of the peoples of Kazakhstan and Russia.”
Kazakhstan’s Atomic Energy Agency and Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom also exchanged intergovernmental agreements related to the planned construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
In addition, the education ministries of the two countries exchanged agreements concerning the creation of the Sirius school in Kazakhstan, while the energy ministries signed agreements aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in the oil sector.
