Kazakhstan, Shell review progress on major oil projects
Officials in Kazakhstan held talks with representatives of Shell on advancing key oil and gas projects, with a focus on sustaining production and expanding long-term cooperation.
According to the government, cited by Kazakh media, First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Naliabayev met with Suzanne Coogan, Senior Vice President and Chair of Shell in Kazakhstan, to review progress on joint initiatives.
“The parties noted the development of cooperation and the implementation of previously reached agreements. In particular, in March of this year, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and Shell signed a contract for geological exploration work at the Zhanaturmys site in the Aktobe region,” the government said in a statement.
The meeting placed particular emphasis on major strategic projects, including the Karachaganak and Kashagan oil and gas fields. Both sides highlighted the importance of maintaining stable production levels while continuing the development of these крупных assets.
Discussions also covered Shell’s role in financing social projects in western regions of Kazakhstan, reflecting broader cooperation beyond the energy sector.
