Kazakhstan to send AZAL Embraer 190 black boxes to Brazil for expert analysis
The flight data recorders from the Embraer 190 aircraft that crashed in Aktau on December 25 will be sent to Brazil for analysis, according to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport.
"According to the standards of Annex 13 of the Chicago Convention, the state conducting the investigation is responsible for retrieving the flight data recorder records and making a decision on the country for decoding and analysis of the black boxes," the statement said, Caliber.Az reports.
It is noted that Kazakhstan ratified this convention in 1992 and is a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
"Based on the aforementioned document, as well as ICAO's recommendation and consultations with the aviation authorities of Azerbaijan and Russia, the Commission for the Investigation of the Aviation Accident, led by Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev, has decided to send the flight data recorders (black boxes) to the Brazilian Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA), which is also the country of origin of the Embraer aircraft," the statement said.
It is noted that CENIPA has the necessary technical capabilities, equipped with the appropriate equipment and certified laboratory for decoding the black boxes.
"This matter is under the personal control of the Head of State," the statement concluded.
