Kremlin: Israel assures safety of Russian specialists at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant VIDEO
Israel has promised that Russian specialists working at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant will remain safe, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on the sidelines of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“Just yesterday, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin mentioned that there is an understanding with Israel that our specialists working at Bushehr will not be in danger or under threat of strikes,” Peskov said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
When asked whether Israel had indeed promised to ensure the safety of the Russian specialists, he responded positively.
He also stated that US involvement in the Iran-Israel conflict would lead to a wider geographical spread of the conflict and trigger a new wave of escalation.
“This would mean the conflict spreading geographically. We are hearing statements coming out of Tehran — in other words, this would be yet another dangerous round of escalation,” the Kremlin representative said.
Seperately, Peskov stated that Russia maintains partnership relations with Iran as well as stable and trusting relations with Israel.
“In the event of an Iran-Israel conflict, President Putin certainly has significant potential to act as a mediator. We maintain partnership relations with Iran and very stable, trusting relations with Israel,” he added
