Kremlin: Putin, Trump to set date for highly anticipated meeting
Press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov has announced that the highly anticipated meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will be scheduled according to the timelines decided by the two leaders.
“The plan will depend on what they decide. The two presidents are the ones making the decisions,” Peskov said, emphasising that while the meeting is important, it requires careful planning, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He further noted, "Depending on the timelines they set, the teams will adjust accordingly."
Peskov also stressed the necessity for the meeting to be productive, stating, “The meeting must be productive. But for it to be productive, it needs to be well-prepared.”
Moreover, Peskov noted that a phone call between Putin and Trump is scheduled to take place at 5:00 p.m. (GMT+3). “I will be speaking, by telephone, to President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Monday [May 19], at 10:00 a.m.,” Trump wrote in Truth Social.
“The subjects of the call will be, stopping the “bloodbath” that is killing, on average, more than 5000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, and trade. I will then be speaking to president Zelenskyy of Ukraine and then, with President Zelenskyy, various members of NATO. Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should have never happened, will end. God bless us all!!!” he wrote.
The previous phone call between Putin and Trump occurred on March 18.
