Iranians take to streets in Tehran on Jerusalem Day to protest Israel PHOTO/VIDEO
Thousands of Iranians gathered in Tehran to participate in the annual Jerusalem Day protests, held on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, Tasnim reports.
The event is observed in solidarity with Palestinians and as a demonstration against Israeli control over Jerusalem.
Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said Jerusalem Day represents a moment for Muslims worldwide to vocally oppose oppression. He described public protest and global participation in denouncing injustice as a historical duty.
“Our people and the world today clearly understand that hostility toward Iran is fundamental and not tied to the Islamic Republic itself, because they cannot tolerate a strong and independent Iran,” Eslami said.
He also highlighted the role of ordinary citizens in safeguarding the nation: “Throughout these years, it has been the people who have protected the country and its independence, while the nuclear issue has essentially been used as a pretext. The Americans and the Israeli regime mock the international system, placing their agents in key positions to serve their global interests.”
Jerusalem Day remains an annual focal point for expressing solidarity with Palestinians and opposing Israeli policies in Jerusalem.
Mass rallies were also held across Iran in support of the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
