Kremlin responds to Ukrainian president’s optimism on peace Amidst ongoing conflict
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed recent remarks made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who suggested that the conflict in Ukraine may conclude sooner than many anticipate.
In his comments, Peskov emphasized that while all wars ultimately end in peace, Russia remains focused on achieving its objectives before concluding its military operations. "As soon as the goals are achieved, the special military operation will be completed," he stated, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
In an interview with ABC News on September 23, Zelenskyy expressed confidence in his plan to strengthen Ukraine as a pathway to victory, suggesting that a resolution to the conflict is closer than perceived.
Transitioning to broader military concerns, Peskov also commented on the implications of potential Western strikes against Russian territory using long-range weapons. He urged reporters to revisit President Vladimir Putin's prior statements on this matter, which outlined Moscow's firm stance against such actions.
"The president's statement in St. Petersburg clearly articulates the position of the Russian Federation regarding any threats from the West," Peskov remarked, addressing questions about how these developments might influence Russia's stance on nuclear testing.
