Armenian official signals talks on potential collapse of OSCE Minsk Group
Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan has suggested that the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, an international negotiating format co-chaired by Russia, the United States, and France, could be a topic of discussion between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during their upcoming talks in Moscow.
In a briefing, Simonyan emphasized that all regional matters would be on the table during the meeting, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
He pointed out that given Russia’s role as one of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group, the future of the organization would be an important issue in the bilateral discussions.
"Discussions are underway now. Foreign ministers will meet in Russia today and all regional meetings will be discussed. There is no issue that we will not discuss because one of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group is Russia, don’t forget about it," Simonyan said in response to a journalist’s question regarding the potential dissolution of the Minsk Group.
The OSCE Minsk Group has been tasked with mediating peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but its future remains uncertain in light of recent regional developments.
