Robbery strikes mansion of Armenian PM's brother-in-law
The mansion of Hrachya Hakobyan, brother-in-law of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and MP from the Civil Contract party, was targeted by thieves earlier this year.
The robbery took place in the village of Dzorakhbyur, though details have only recently come to light, thanks to Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper, per Caliber.Az.
Hakobyan, who attempted to downplay the incident to avoid speculation, initially kept the matter under wraps. However, the theft has sparked a flurry of conversation in political circles. Sources within the party have even humorously suggested that the robbery might have been prevented if the MP had focused more on his family affairs rather than his frequent travels.
The Armenian Ministry of Interior confirmed the robbery in response to inquiries, revealing that the incident was reported on January 14 and that materials related to the case have been handed over to the Investigative Committee.
Notably, the mansion in question was acquired by Hakobyan following the political shift in Armenia.
