Kyiv fulfils all conditions for EU membership, says premier
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said that Ukraine has fulfilled all seven recommendations of the European Union (EU), which were given to the country when it was granted candidate status in the community.
Semen Kryvonos became the head of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), Gazeta.Ru reports, citing Shmyhal’s Telegram channel.
According to the premier, the appointment process was preceded by a "transparent competition", after which a commission of international partners selected three candidates for the post.
"Ukraine has now implemented all seven of the EU's recommendations that were identified when it became a candidate. This demonstrates our determination to move towards the start of accession talks as early as this year," Shmyhal said.
He also stressed that with the appointment of the NABU director, the independent anti-corruption infrastructure is fully in place and its team is "committed to the principle of zero tolerance to corruption and support for anti-corruption institutions".
