Kyrgyz Parliament votes to dissolve itself ahead of early elections
On September 25, 2025, deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament voted by a majority to dissolve the legislature.
The bill on self-dissolution was approved by 84 deputies, with no votes against, Caliber.Az reports, citing sources in Kyrgyz media.
A total of 89 of the 90 parliamentarians registered for the session.
Earlier, Speaker of Parliament Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu said he had received a proposal signed by 32 deputies calling for the parliament’s dissolution, noting that the arguments presented were well-founded.
The group of deputies behind the initiative explained in a letter to the speaker that the next parliamentary elections are scheduled for November 2026 and the presidential elections for January 2027. They argued that the Central Election Commission would be unable to organise two major political events in such a short period.
Under Kyrgyz law, once parliament votes to dissolve itself, the president must call for early elections within five days. The early parliamentary elections are tentatively set for 30 November 2025.
