La Gazette du Caucase: Paris mayor makes hypocritical accusations against Azerbaijan

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo’s accusations against Azerbaijan have been described in an article published in the French La Gazette du Caucase newspaper.

“Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo’s accusations against Azerbaijan are completely hypocritical”, Caliber.Az reports citing an article published by the newspaper.   

“Hidalgo made a ‘proposal’ on May 24 calling on France to boycott the COP29 conference, which will be held in Baku in November,” the article says.

According to the article, France’s “proposal” is not legal, few people pay attention to Hidalgo’s opinion, especially regarding environmental protection.

Saying that she was acting to protect the environment, Hidalgo "transformed" Paris according to her own ideas, closing off major roads to cars and replacing them with bike lanes that almost no one uses.

As a result, these areas were emptied, stores were permanently closed. As a result, there is huge traffic congestion, streets are littered with trash, and homeless people are forced to sleep on the sidewalks while rats are running around.

The authors of the article emphasise that Mayor Hidalgo attacks Azerbaijan under the pretext of protecting Armenia.

“She supports the French Armenians, who lead various anti-Azerbaijani groups and openly profess Islamophobia. All these people, most likely, will not attend COP29 in any case,” the article says.
