Lankaran kicks off as vibrant Youth Capital of Turkic World 2024

11 June 2024 09:42

The international programme "Lankaran - Youth Capital of the Turkic World 2024," jointly organized by the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and Azerbaijan's Ministry of Youth and Sports, is now underway.

According to Azertag, each year, one city from an OTS member country is designated as the "Youth Capital" to enhance the skills of young people contributing to national development and strengthening fraternal and friendly relations. Throughout the year, international events are hosted in the designated city.

A number of events are being held in Lankaran, which was elected as the "Youth Capital" of 2024 at the seventh meeting of the Youth and Sports Ministers of the OTS.

The opening ceremony of the international programme featured representatives from state structures, the OTS secretariat, delegations from OTS member states, and approximately 50 young participants from six countries.

During the event, the symbolic key from Istanbul, the "Youth Capital" of 2023, was handed over, and the logo for the 2024 ‘Youth Capital’ was unveiled. Attendees also enjoyed the concert.

Several significant events, including the "II General Assembly of Youth Platform," the "III Forum of Young Entrepreneurs," and the "VI Forum of Young Leaders," have been organized with participation from senior leaders and youth representatives of OTS member countries. The programme includes various activities aimed at promoting cultural, educational, recreational, social, sports, and national values, as well as youth leadership and skill development projects.

The programme began on June 9 and will run until June 11.

It should be noted that Lankaran was declared the "Youth Capital of the Turkic World" for 2024 at the seventh meeting of the Youth and Sports Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Basgal village, Ismailli district, on November 9, 2023.
