Earlier, at around 10:45, the Latvian army had warned of a possible aerial threat in the Ludzas, Krāslavas un Rēzeknes regions.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to remain in secure locations, preferably behind two solid walls, and to report any suspicious objects by calling emergency services at 112.
The Armed Forces emphasized that Latvia, together with its NATO allies, continuously monitors its airspace and maintains the capability to respond rapidly to any potential threats. It also noted that air defence capabilities along the eastern border have been reinforced with additional units.
“As long as Russia’s aggression against Ukraine continues, incidents in which drones may enter or approach Latvian airspace are possible,” the Armed Forces said.
