Lavrov believes that some forces trying to make a “second Ukraine” out of Moldova
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that they are trying to make a “second Ukraine” out of Moldova, and this is in line with the consumerist approach of the current leadership of the country.
“Of course, they are clearly trying to make a second Ukraine out of Moldova,” he said in an interview with NTV on Thursday, TASS reports.
“Such a consumer approach on the part of the current Moldovan leadership is very, very indicative when they say: “Let’s start joining the European Union now, then we’ll see what they promise us there, then maybe we will decide whether to stay in the Commonwealth of Independent States ", and other statements," the head of Russian diplomacy explained, calling this approach "begging." He noted that the majority of the Moldovan population, however, does not share this position.
"The Russians should again give us a discount on gas compared to the contracts that were signed, and delay payments," he cited an example of such statements. “Such begging is, by and large, extortion.”
He also added that Chisinau's behavior is reminiscent of role-playing. “If you don’t do it to us, we will go to Europe faster, and if you do, we will go anyway, but more slowly.” This is how I read these signals,” the minister added.
