Lebanon condemns escalating Israeli attacks
Lebanon’s Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajar condemned the ongoing deadly Israeli strikes across the country.
He specifically highlighted attacks on civil defence personnel, describing them as violations of international law, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
The ministry also expressed condolences to the family of a civil defence worker killed on March 18 when an Israeli airstrike hit a vehicle in the southern city of Sidon.
A major conflict has erupted between Israel and Hezbollah, an Iran‑aligned Lebanese militia, after Hezbollah resumed rocket attacks into Israel in early March 2026, ending a long‑standing ceasefire and drawing Lebanon deeply into the regional war linked to the broader Israel‑Iran confrontation.
Israel’s military has responded with sustained airstrikes and bombardments across southern Lebanon and Beirut’s suburbs, which Lebanese authorities say have killed hundreds of civilians and displaced over a million people.
The United Nations and humanitarian agencies warn that the fighting has had severe humanitarian consequences, including high civilian casualties among children and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
