Lithuania urges its citizens in Mideast to stay in touch with embassies For safety reasons

02 March 2026 13:36

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys has said that up to 2,000 Lithuanian citizens are currently in the Middle East, and their safety may require measures in the near future, LRT reports.

Most Lithuanian nationals are in the United Arab Emirates. Budrys urged citizens to register with Lithuania’s diplomatic missions so that authorities can contact them quickly if needed.

“Our priority is the safety of our citizens, and we are addressing this at multiple levels,” the minister said.

He added that Lithuania’s actions are coordinated with other countries and European Union institutions.

Budrys also clarified that there are currently no plans to intensify evacuations or repatriation, but all EU mechanisms are ready to act if necessary.
