Massive Russian drone attack hits Kryvyi Rih, fires erupt across city
Russian forces carried out a large-scale drone attack on Kryvyi Rih overnight on March 2, hitting an industrial facility and triggering multiple fires, local authorities announced on Telegram.
“The enemy struck Kryvyi Rih. An enterprise in the city was damaged, causing several fires. Firefighters are responding. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties,” the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration said at 6:00 a.m.
Hours earlier, city Defence Council head Oleksandr Vilkul warned that Russia was conducting a heavy “Shahed” drone assault on the city, with at least five additional drones en route to Kryvyi Rih at the time.
This strike follows a previous combined Russian attack on Ukraine on the night of February 26, which involved missiles and drones targeting multiple cities. Kryvyi Rih was hit by a prolonged assault, resulting in damage to approximately ten residential buildings.
One five-story building sustained severe damage with its roof breached, and a kindergarten, a fire station, and administrative buildings were also affected. Vehicles were set ablaze, and at least one car was damaged.
