McDonald's restaurants renamed in Kazakhstan
Restaurants previously operating in Kazakhstan under the McDonald's brand now bear male and female names common in the republic
According to photos circulating on social networks, the restaurants of the former chain display inscriptions such as "I am Aigerim", "I am Diana" and "I am Daniyar" instead of "We are open" signs, TASS reports.
Food Solutions KZ, which operates the chain, has yet to comment on the renaming, with its press service confirming only that signage has been changed in 24 restaurants in six cities across Kazakhstan.
McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain in Kazakhstan announced that it will stop operating under the brand in January 2023.
The company explained it by supply constraints. General Director of Food Solutions KZ Aset Mashanov reported that the company has not yet decided on the name for the restaurants and is developing a local brand.
