Media: Dozens of OSCE PA observers to monitor parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan
About 60 observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will arrive in Azerbaijan to participate in the early parliamentary elections to be held on September 1, Caliber.Az reports, according to a message by OSCE PA.
Michael Creed, head of the Irish delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, will serve as special coordinator and head of the short-term OSCE observer mission, while Lucie Potůčková of the Czech Republic, chair of the General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, will lead the OSCE PA observer delegation, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
"These early parliamentary elections are undoubtedly of great importance, especially given the context of the recent early presidential elections held just six months ago and Azerbaijan's upcoming hosting of a major international UN[COP29] event," Creed said.
This is the eleventh time that the Parliamentary Assembly has observed elections in the country since 1995.
