Media: Iran proposes resumption of nuclear talks to Trump Saudi Prince delivered letter
Iran has reportedly sent a letter to US President Donald Trump proposing the resumption of nuclear negotiations.
According to Asr Iran and Iran International, the correspondence was delivered by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and was coordinated with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Former Iranian MP Mostafa Kavakebian said the letter offered talks with no preconditions.
“The essence of the message was that we are ready to open the door to dialogue,” he added, emphasising that the initiative had Khamenei’s approval.
Last week, Trump suggested that Tehran was seeking a new nuclear deal. Western nations have long expressed concern over Iran’s uranium enrichment, which exceeds civilian needs and, they argue, could be diverted to nuclear weapons development.
Iran insists it has no intention of producing a bomb and maintains its right to enrich uranium.
Iranian officials confirmed the letter was delivered by the Saudi crown prince but characterised it as routine and primarily related to coordinating the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
