Media: Two US-flagged commercial vessels “stuck” in Strait of Hormuz
Two commercial vessels sailing under the US flag have become “stuck” in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s Fars news agency reports, citing a knowledgeable source.
According to the source, the vessels are located in an area with difficult terrain near the Omani coast, where they allegedly cannot continue their route due to a rocky section of the passage.
“From a geographical standpoint, the southern coastal area of the Strait of Hormuz near the two islands of Musandam and al-Khail is not suitable for forming a maritime corridor, and passage of ships through shallow and rocky areas in the south is extremely risky,” the news agency added.
The report also claims that a fire at facilities in Fujairah (UAE) was a “targeted operation” by the United States aimed at creating conditions for ships to pass through what it described as “restricted areas” of the strait.
