Media: Ukraine targets key Druzhba pipeline facility in Russia
Ukrainian drones have reportedly targeted a key oil infrastructure facility in Russia’s Samara region, according to claims by Ukrainian media cited by ASTRA, though the information has not been independently confirmed.
The reported strike involved the Samara linear production dispatch station, a major node within Russia’s oil transportation network and part of the broader Druzhba pipeline system. The facility is located in the settlement of Prosvet.
Sources in the Security Service of Ukraine, cited by Ukrainian media, said the attack was carried out overnight on April 21 using drones operated by the Alpha Special Operations Centre. According to these claims, the strike triggered a large fire at the site and damaged five crude oil storage tanks, each with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters.
Earlier, the governor of the Samara region reported that drones had attempted to strike an unspecified “industrial facility” overnight, without providing further details.
However, there has been no independent verification of the reported damage. NASA fire monitoring systems did not record any signs of a blaze in the area of the facility, according to ASTRA.
The Samara dispatch station plays a strategic role in Russia’s energy infrastructure, acting as a major hub where oil flows from multiple regions are consolidated and transported through trunk pipelines (including Druzhba).
