Media: US strikes Iranian targets in Qeshm and Bandar Abbas
The US military has carried out strikes on Iranian targets in the port of Qeshm and the city of Bandar Abbas, according to reports citing a senior US official.
Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin reported that the strikes had just taken place, stressing that they were not intended to signal a broader escalation.
"A senior US official tells me that it was a US military strike on Iran’s Qeshm port and Bandar Abbas moments ago but added this is NOT a restarting of the war or end to the ceasefire," she wrote.

Iranian media said there had been an exchange of fire between Iranian forces and an unspecified “enemy” near the port of Qeshm, while air defence systems were activated in western Tehran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) accused the United States of violating the ceasefire by striking an Iranian tanker near the port of Jask. In response, it said it launched attacks on three US destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz using ballistic and anti-ship cruise missiles, as well as explosive drones.
US Central Command (CENTCOM), however, reported that the American ships were not damaged and confirmed that US forces responded with strikes on Iranian military targets.
The developments come amid fragile diplomatic efforts. Earlier reports indicated that Washington and Tehran were close to signing a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict and opening the door to negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.
US President Donald Trump described the talks as “very well” and said Iran had agreed to abandon nuclear weapons.
