Media: JD Vance left "more isolated than ever" after Gabbard’s departure
US Vice President JD Vance has reportedly been left "more isolated than ever" following the departure of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard amid internal disagreements within the administration over policy toward Iran, SkyNews reports, citing the Daily Mail.
Gabbard was seen as one of Vance’s few allies in efforts to restrain military initiatives by US President Donald Trump.
Her departure is said to have deepened internal divisions, with Vance’s position in favour of a more restrained foreign policy reportedly putting him at odds with Trump.
The report adds that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has taken on a more prominent role in shaping foreign policy, advocating a tougher approach.
It also claims that disagreements within the administration, including over Iran policy, have led Vance to consider stepping back from the 2028 presidential race to avoid political responsibility for potential fallout from current policy decisions.
