Moroccan government urges to sever ties with Israel
The moderate Islamist Party of Justice and Development (PJD) in Morocco has called on the country's government and other Arab-Muslim states to immediately end their diplomatic and trade relations with Israel.
The statement from the PJD comes in response to an Israeli rocket attack on the al-Tabeen school complex in Gaza on August 10, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The attack resulted in at least 93 casualties, including 11 children and 6 women.
The Moroccan Islamists strongly condemned the "brutal actions" of the Israeli military and criticized the "silent support" of some Western countries for the false narratives of the Israeli state, which they argue only exacerbates tensions.
The PJD expressed "outrage at the international community's silence," labeling its inaction as "inhumane complicity in the repeated massacres of innocent civilians." The party also voiced "deep disappointment" over the ongoing relations between Morocco, other Arab-Muslim countries, and Israel.
Moroccan authorities and the public closely follow developments in the Middle East conflict, particularly concerning the status of Jerusalem, which is known as the "City of Three Religions." King Mohammed VI serves as the chairman of the Al-Quds Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which focuses on preserving the city's spiritual and civilizational significance and safeguarding its role as a center and disseminator of values of tolerance and peace.
