Moscow supports Yerevan's cooperation aspiration within EAEU Spokeswoman says
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said that Moscow supports the Armenian partners' willingness for further fruitful work aimed at strengthening and developing the Eurasian economic integration.
She made the remarks at a briefing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
On December 25-26, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan paid a visit to St. Petersburg. He took part in the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS informal summit.
As the diplomat noted, the interaction between Russia and Armenia within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union is built on a pragmatic and mutually beneficial basis.
She stated that Armenia itself is experiencing high rates of economic growth, Yerevan receives significant dividends from its participation in the Union.
"Despite some ambiguous statements by representatives of the republic, we are building a constructive, depoliticized dialogue with our Armenian partners, as well as with the rest of the EAEU members," Zakharova said.
She recalled that from January 1, the presidency of the Union's bodies will be taken over by Armenia.
"The Prime Minister of this country, speaking at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on December 25 in St. Petersburg, stated Yerevan's focus on the full implementation of tasks within the EAEU in the medium and long term," Zakharova noted.
According to her, Moscow supports this aspiration of Yerevan.
The Eurasian Economic Union is an international integration economic union that has been functioning since January 1, 2015. The members of the union are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
