NATO source talks to Polish media on airspace violation by Belarus
NATO is closely monitoring the situation along its eastern borders, in particular following the violation of Polish airspace by Belarusian military helicopters on August 1.
This has been reported by the Polish TVP Info citing a source in the NATO headquarters in Brussels.
According to the official, NATO is in close contact with the Polish authorities regarding the incident with two Belarusian helicopters having briefly crossed into Poland's airspace at a low altitude.
"We will continue to do everything necessary to ensure that the entire territory of the Alliance remains safe", the source assured.
The Polish Defence Minister, Mariusz Błaszczak, ordered to increase the number of soldiers on the border and allocate additional forces and resources, including combat helicopters while the chargé d'affaires of the Belarusian embassy was immediately summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
