Nazarbayev names key reasons for formation of new geopolitical reality
The first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has named the main reasons for the formation of a new geopolitical reality as he attended the 7th meeting of the Astana Club discussion platform.
During the meeting Nursultan Nazarbayev named the main reasons for the formation of a new geopolitical reality, among which are the growth of power confrontation in international relations, multi-crisis in the economic architecture of the world against the background of sanctions restrictions, climate change and weakening cooperation to reduce the nuclear threat, TASS reports.
The former president said that against the backdrop of possible future nuclear escalation, non-proliferation and disarmament issues require the activities of all participants in the anti-nuclear movement. "We are closer to nuclear catastrophe than ever before. Such a regression is of particular concern to me, as our country has made a great contribution to the cause of nuclear disarmament. Without political will at the global level, it is virtually impossible to make tangible progress in this area. It is for this reason that in November 2019, at the 5th meeting of the Astana Club, I proposed to establish a Global Alliance of Leaders for Nuclear Security and Nuclear-Weapons-Free World," Nazarbayev noted.
