New groups of former IDPs return to Khojavand, Shusha under Azerbaijan's Great Return program
New groups of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) have departed for the villages of Guzeykhirman and Guneykhirman in the Khojavand district and Kichik Galaderesi in the Shusha district as part of Azerbaijan's "Great Return" program.
The latest relocation includes 21 families comprising 87 people returning to Guzeykhirman, 18 families with 72 people heading to Guneykhirman, and 15 families totalling 51 people relocating to Kichik Galaderesi, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The returning families had previously lived in temporary accommodation, including dormitories, sanatoriums, children's camps, unfinished buildings, and administrative facilities, after being displaced from their homes.
The "Great Return" program is being implemented in line with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev and aims to facilitate the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of former IDPs to Azerbaijan's liberated territories following the 2020 Patriotic War.
Residents expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for the government's continued support and assistance throughout the resettlement process. They also thanked the Azerbaijani Armed Forces for liberating their native lands and paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives during the conflict.
