New South Korean ambassador starts tenure in Azerbaijan, eyes broader cooperation PHOTO
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with newly appointed Ambassador of South Korea to Azerbaijan, Kang Kymgu, marking the commencement of his diplomatic mission in Baku.
During the meeting, the ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Bayramov, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Bayramov extended his congratulations on the appointment and wished Ambassador success in advancing the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The discussions encompassed a broad agenda focusing on Azerbaijan-Korea cooperation across multiple domains, including economic collaboration, investment opportunities, humanitarian initiatives, education, and tourism. The sides highlighted significant potential for expanding ties in agriculture, high technology, and healthcare sectors.
Emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts on international platforms, the officials underscored their coooperation within the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). Additionally, they noted the ongoing double degree programs between South Korea’s INHA University and Baku Engineering University, reflecting growing educational exchanges.
Minister Bayramov also briefed Ambassador Kang on the historical context of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and the current post-conflict realities, addressing challenges to the peace process such as Armenia’s constitutional territorial claims against Azerbaijan and the dissolution of the Minsk Group. The parties exchanged views on efforts related to the restoration and demining of territories recently liberated from occupation.
