Niger rebels ask for more support from Guinea
The rebels who came to power as a result of a coup in Niger during a visit to Conakry asked the Guinean authorities for increased support for the country.
Guinea's transitional president, Mamady Doumbouya, received the rebels, the broadcasting company RTG reports.
According to the head of the delegation, General Moussa Salaou Barmou, Niger expresses its gratitude and asks for increased support from Guinea to further face future challenges.
It is emphasized that Guinea became the first country to support the rebels in Niger, and its authorities said they expected guarantees of stability and harmony in the country from the participants in the coup.
Prior to this, it was reported that the European Union is preparing individual sanctions against Niger to support the efforts of the Economic Community of West African Nations (ECOWAS) to restore democracy in the country. This was reported in a statement by the head of the EU foreign policy Josep Borrell.
