No evidence claim, says IAEA chief on Iran’s nuclear activity
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has stated that it has never asserted that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, clarifying its position amid ongoing scrutiny of Tehran’s nuclear program.
The statement was made by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi during a press conference in Vienna, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“We have never said that they are doing this. We did not say it when we had access to their facilities. And we cannot say it now either,” Grossi said.
Grossi noted that Iran, in the past, had not always fully responded to questions raised by the agency regarding its nuclear activities.
He also highlighted that the IAEA has been unable to access Iran’s nuclear sites for nearly a year due to the outbreak of military hostilities, with the exception of a recent inspection of the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
