North Korean leader visits defence plants, calls for increased arms production PHOTO
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has visited military-industrial enterprises and highlighted a fourfold increase in production at a shell manufacturing plant.
Kim Jong Un oversaw operations at key military-industrial enterprises under the Second Economic Committee during his visit, Caliber.Az reports, citing North Korean media.
The head of the republic inspected the shell factory's production progress and its modernisation efforts.
The modernisation has resulted in a fourfold increase in shell output compared to the average year, and nearly double the output of the plant's previous peak year.
The Chairman of State Affairs expressed satisfaction with the results, saying they prove the correctness of the Workers' Party of Korea's policy to modernise the defence industry.
In his address to the workers, Kim stated that boosting shell production contributes to strengthening the country’s defence capabilities. He called for the modernisation model of this plant to be replicated at other new facilities.
The North Korean leader also visited a machinery plant, where he urged increased production of "smart, fast, precise, and multifunctional machines" to serve the military-industrial complex and other sectors of the economy.
