Nvidia unveils AI-powered G-Assist tool for optimizing gaming performance
Nvidia has introduced an AI-powered tool called Project G-Assist, designed for RTX graphics card owners, offering extensive options for optimizing game and system settings.
Initially launched as an April Fools' joke in 2017, G-Assist has evolved into a full-fledged project, now functioning as a text or voice assistant. Users can ask questions related to technologies such as DLSS frame generation and receive detailed explanations.
Key features of G-Assist include automatic optimization of graphics and system settings to achieve the best performance in games, as well as managing lighting for third-party devices, including those from Logitech, Corsair, MSI, and Nanoleaf.
Additionally, the assistant analyzes the technical state of the computer and identifies bottlenecks limiting gaming performance. It also provides recommendations, including tips for overclocking the graphics card.
G-Assist requires an RTX 30, 40, or 50 series GPU with at least 12 GB of memory. The assistant uses a local language model that runs directly on the computer and takes up about 10 GB of disk space. To get started with G-Assist, users must update the Nvidia app and download the tool within the Nvidia App.
