NYT: Deadly storms and flooding leave seven dead across Indiana
At least seven people have been killed by storms and flooding sweeping through the US state of Indiana, The New York Times (NYT) reports.
The victims ranged in age from 4 to 86. Severe weather struck the state on August 11, with wind gusts exceeding 44 meters per second (158 kilometres per hour) in some areas, while water levels reached their highest point in 113 years.
According to PowerOutage.us, more than 280,000 residents in the US states of Hawaii and Indiana were left without electricity due to the severe weather.
In Hawaii, around 151,500 customers remain without power, primarily in Hawaii, Honolulu and Maui counties, which were affected by Hurricane Lala.
In Indiana, more than 130,400 people remain without electricity amid the flooding.
