Opposition activity to decline due to discord between Armenian ex-presidents Forecast of Armenian media
"As long as the shadow leaders of the so–called "Resistance Movement" "Resistance Movement" Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan do not come to an agreement on the candidate for the post of head of the interim government, the movement will not grow, moreover, it may wane, since the majority of Armenians follow personalities, not ideas."
Caliber.Az quotes the Yerevan-based "Hraparak" with reference to its sources in the movement.
The agency also writes that the authorities, concerned about anti-government rallies by opposition supporters, have again resorted to a long-tested method: in recent days, opposition figures involved in a criminal case initiated over the beating of Ararat Mirzoyan and the invasion in parliament and government buildings on the night of November 10, 2020, have been summoned to the National Security Service for questioning.
"Opposition activists participating in rallies and blocking streets in Yerevan, as well as MPs, including Seyran Ohanyan and Armen Gevorgyan, are summoned for interrogations, which are usually purely formal in nature. The goal is to intimidate representatives of the opposition and thereby nullify their street struggle," the newspaper writes.
