Russia fires record ballistic missiles across Ukraine, largest power plants hit
On the night of January 12 to 13, Russia carried out a record launch of missiles using the Iskander-M operational-tactical system across Ukraine.
More than 20 ballistic missiles were fired at energy infrastructure facilities in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as in Kyiv and Kharkiv, Caliber.Az reports via the Ukrainian Telegram channel Monitorwar, engaged in war monitoring.
As a result of the attack, the cities of Irpin, Bucha, and Hostomel were left without power, and electricity disruptions were reported in Kyiv and other regions.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces said that some of the targets of the strike were Ukraine’s largest hydroelectric power plants — the Kyiv and Kaniv HPPs, located near the Kyiv Reservoir and Kaniv. These facilities are among the five largest hydroelectric power plants in the country.
The attack resulted in emergency power outages throughout Kyiv.
