Syrian authorities arrest two suspected ISIS members over Homs Mosque bombing
The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on January 12 that security forces, in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate, have arrested two individuals linked to the extremist group ISIS in connection with a deadly mosque bombing in the city of Homs.
According to a ministry statement, the suspects—identified as Ahmad Attallah al-Diab and Anas al-Zarad—were responsible for carrying out the December 26 bombing at the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi al-Dahab neighbourhood. The attack killed eight civilians and injured 18 others, several of them seriously, Caliber.Az reports.
The arrests followed what the ministry described as an extensive intelligence operation involving surveillance and tracking. Security forces reportedly recovered explosives, weapons, ammunition, documents, and digital evidence that confirmed the suspects’ involvement in terrorist activities.
The statement said all seized materials were confiscated and that the two men have been transferred to the Anti-Terrorism Department for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining national security and stability, pledging to continue pursuing terrorist groups and responding to threats to public safety.
