Opposition leader drags Pashinyan, national broadcaster into court battle
Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party, has filed lawsuits against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the country’s national television broadcaster.
According to information published on the judicial statistics portal Datalex, Tsarukyan is demanding that Pashinyan retract statements in which the prime minister allegedly described him as a spy and an agent, and accused him of involvement in criminal collusion and the plundering of the Armenian people.
The opposition politician is also seeking compensation of approximately $24,540 for alleged moral damages.
In a separate claim against the national broadcaster, Tsarukyan is demanding a retraction of reports alleging that his party was established on the instructions of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan.
